At High Prairie Elementary, we are a growing and thriving school with a population of approximately 335 students. We are proud to be situated on Treaty 8 land and have a diverse population including those with cultural backgrounds from First Nations, India, Philippines and places beyond. We believe every student can learn with the necessary tools, supports, and caring environment. Teachers at HPE work collaboratively to share best practices about teaching and learning in the areas of literacy, numeracy, student leadership, and 21st Century learning.

Our winter activities have been very successful this past month. I was happy to be able to attend skating at the Recreation Center and catch a glimpse of some joyful, rosy-cheeked faces. I see that skating and the playing of tag are as engaging as they have ever been. Thank you, parents and staff, so much, for the incredible efforts making Halloween celebrations a success. It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the parade and supporting their children’s classroom parties. From scary to funny, subtle to over-the-top, a variety of costumes graced the halls of High Prairie Elementary School. I am grateful to all those who volunteered their time to make this a successful event.

The staff of High Prairie Elementary strives to provide an atmosphere of cooperation, and safety in which our students are given the opportunity to grow in their academic program and in their social, emotional and physical development. We feel that parents are an integral part of our school setting and a partner of their child's school success. We would like to invite you to continue the support and the dialogue that has taken place in the past. I know that our community has offered tremendous support and for that we are truly thankful. We look forward to making this year a successful one for our students.
